2020 Beach Guidelines
The town of Mattapoisett has developed an initial plan for the 2020 beach season.
-
Lifeguard Duties: The Town Beach will be staffed daily by lifeguards beginning June 29th from 9am to 5pm.
Beach Parking: A 2020 Mattapoisett Beach Sticker will be required, day passes will NOT be sold at the beach this summer. The enforcement date for beach stickers is being deferred to June 29th to allow more time for residents and taxpayers to purchase beach parking stickers. Stickers can continue to be purchases by mail or at the Town Hall's outdoor service window from 10am-2pm.
Parking lot capacity will be reduced throughout the summer as a measure to limit close contact and uphold State guidelines.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Mattapoisett and the Board of Health have instituted the following guidelines:
-
Face coverings must ALWAYS be worn by everyone 2 years of age and older when social distancing (minimum of 6' from others) is not possible. Exceptions: medical; while swimming; members of same household.
-
All visitors must maintain a minimum of 12' between towel/chair placement of groups.
-
No gathering in groups of more that 10 people.
-
All visitors must maintain a minimum of 6' distance from lifeguards and lifeguard chairs unless it is an emergency. Be mindful that the lifeguard's responsibility is to guard the water and swimmers, NOT to monitor or police the beach. Lifeguards will not enforce social distancing but will generally monitor for overcrowding and report concerns to supervisors.
-
The Town Beach house, rest rooms, outdoor shower, playground and picnic areas are CLOSED until further notice. Port-O-Johns have been placed on site for public use.
-
Organized ball and beach games are not allowed at this time, including but not limited to, volleyball, Kan Jam, spikeball, football and Kadima.
-
visitors should adhere to the "carry in, carry out" policy and take all waste with them.
Please be advised that guidelines can change based on state mandates and protocols.
We are asking visitors to help us keep the beach open by acting responsibly and abiding by the rues set forth by the Commonweatlth.
