SEAHORSE EXPLORERS WEEKLY THEMES
SUMMER 2023
Week 1: June 26 - June 30th SENSATIONAL SCIENCE
Explorers will have a chance to participate in fun and exciting experiments while learning about the planets. On Wednesday and Friday Mad Science of Southeastern Mass will be entertaining campers with an interactive show - thanks to a grant at the Mattapoisett Cultural Council. Spend the week embracing your inner scientist while learning about planets, rocket ships and more!
Week 2: July 5 - July 7 BUBBLES AND FOAM FUN
This is a 3 day week. We will be doing fun experiments and games with bubbles and foam. On Friday Dragon Foam will be putting on a Foam Party with music and games!
Week 3: July 10- July 14 SEAHORSE GIVES BACK
A yearly favorite! This week campers will learn about all the people who spend their lives making this world a better place. Special visits will be made by the Mattapoisett Fire and Police Departments. Campers will also run their own fundraiser. In previous years 30 backpacks, filled with school supplies, were donated to local children and over $120 was raised for the Jimmy Fund. and another year campers ran a lemonade stand and bake sale and raised over $700 for the Lighthouse Animal Shelter.
Week 4: July 17 - July 21 PIRATE AND ORINCESSES WEEK
Explorers will take part in an exciting week filled with scavenger hunts and games. Children will have the chance to dress like a pirate or princess. They will also do fun projects like creating their own masks and crafts.
Week 5: July 24 - July 28 THE AMAZING SEAHORSE WEEK
This week campers will compete in groups to win medals! Counselors will also battle it out all week to see who wins the Mr. and Mrs. Seahorse Competition. On Friday, we plan to have Knucklebones join us to introduce and play games from other countries thanks to a grant from the Mattapoisett Cultural Council.
Week 6: July 31 - August 4 SEAHORSE HAS TALENT
This week will be filled with music and dancing competitions based on popular television shows. Let's see which Seahorse Explorers and counselors have the moves and the pipes! Friday we will have a Seahorse Explorer Talent Show!!!
Week 7: August 8 - August 11 WACKY WATER WEEK
Our final week of camp will be all about the water and how to enjoy it (and preserve it). Activities will be about the ocean and how we can enjoy it and preserve it! We will be going on kayak rides with the Mattapoisett Land Trust other fun adventures. The week will conclude with an end of Camp Party and waterslide adventure.
